Course description

Our CIBTAC Award in Education Level 3 course consists of both distant learning and practical training. As part of the learning, you will be required to complete 20 hours shadowing a lecturer and 20 hours of teaching a class, prior to receiving your qualification.

Who must meet the following pre-requirement criteria

The Course

• The strategy for delivery of the units that make up the CIBTAC level 3 award in Education and Training is built upon the concept of a competence-based training programme supported by additional learning time.
• Guided learning hours is “the activity of a learner in being taught or instructed by – or otherwise participating in education or training under the immediate guidance or supervision of a lecturer, supervisor, tutor or other appropriate provider of education or training”.

Where/How the course is delivered

The Award in Education Training course consist of :

• Distant learning.  This involves familiarising yourself with the course content, preparing for your practical hours (see below) and exam.  This needs to be completed and submitted before attending the practical course.  Don’t worry, this is all explained clearly in the course pack that we send you, and we are with you every step of the way.
• Practical training.  This is carried out as :  four x 2 hour live sessions via zoom and a final one day mircro-teaching session held at our Training Centre (see directions on our Contact Us page).  (The dates on the drop down option above show the dates for the 4 sessions and the final day).  Our lecturers are highly experienced and will work with you all the way to help you achieve this qualification.  Once the microteaching sessions are completed you will need complete 40 hours of “teaching hours” as detailed below.  Once all your course work is submitted and your 40 hours completed, your portfolio will be submitted to CIBTAC for assessment and your certificate will then be delivered to you.
• As part of the learning, you will be required to complete 20 hours shadowing a lecturer and 20 hours of teaching a class, prior to receiving your qualification. At the Academy, we do everything we can to help you achieve this by allowing you to shadow and participate in our training courses to complete your hours, however we are not obliged to do this and can only help where we have the availability.  You can choose to complete your hours within another recognised centre or training institution should you prefer.

*This course qualifies you to teach students, however it is then your responsibility to have your course accredited by an awarding body in your chosen specified field.  Again, we can guide you how to do this and recommend the recognised awarding bodies and insurance companies we work with.
